President Cyril Ramaphosa brought about good news for R350 SRD beneficiaries, announcing payments start “next week” attaining to the mid-June promise made to applicants. This comes as a relief to many who have been long waiting and in need of the fund.

Although the news may be good news, however the information told to the public this past few days of many being cut off, is still the main factor that beneficiaries are looking to get answers for. Reports show over 10.6 million new applications were sent since the April renewal. According to Sassa, the budget given is R44 billion which can only cover to fund 10.5 million beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries are still experiencing “pending” statuses on their SRD status Sassa check, ad say they are not hopeful that the government will assist them in putting food on the table this coming months.
