Norman Mapeza re-appointed as the Zimbabwean National team interim coach

Norman Mapeza

The Warriors had a poor start in the recent World Cup 2022 Qualifications, as they drew against Bafana Bafana in the opening fixture of the campaign and lost against Ethiopia in their second fixture of the campaign.

These poor results led to the Croatian Zdravko Logarusic being sacked as the head Coach along with his three Assistants, Logarusic took charge of the Warriors in February 2020.

The Zimbabwe Football Association has by far named Norman Mapeza as an interim replacement for Logarusic on a three-year deal. Mapeza is familiar with the Warriors as he is being appointed as an interim Coach for the 5th time he also played for the National team as a defender, making 92 appearances for the team. Norman Mapeza is regarded lucky when it comes to qualifying for big tournaments.

Mapeza’s first task as an interim Coach will be against Ghana in back-to-back clashes of the World Cup 2022 Qualifiers in October before meeting with Bafana Bafana and Ethiopia in the second leg of the campaign.
