Mamelodi Sundowns were hosted by Orlando Pirates, at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Bucs dominated their previous two games after securing wins against Moroka Swallows and Chippa United coming from behind.

Meanwhile Masandawana also defeated their last two opponents Kaizer Chiefs and TS Galaxy. The Sea Robbers and Masandawana were meeting for the 74^th time today, with Sundowns yet to concede a goal Buccaneers had a hard task to put an end to Masandawana’s unbeaten run.

In the first opening half Both teams were attacking, with Thabiso Kutumela hitting the crossbar trying to find the back of the net for Sundowns on the 5^th minute. Mpontshane and Onyango were kept busy in the ball-posts as both teams couldn’t stop knocking at each other’s doors. Sundowns were dominating in terms of ball possession, the first 45 minutes ended into a goalless.

Coming into the second half Sundowns posed to be a threat at the Buccaneers defence as they managed to get through them and on the 54^th minute Peter Shalulile broke the deadlock and gave Sundowns the lead, Pirates kept their fighting spirit alive as they tried to fight back but Masandawana’s defence was on alert. Peter Shalulile competing for the Top Goal Scorer award, extended Sundowns lead on the 72^nd minute.

On the 81^st minute Pirates got through Sundowns defence and Mabasa tried to pull one back for Pirates but Onyango saved, 3 minutes after Onyango’s save Dlamini also tried to pull one back but Africa’s No.1 Goalkeeper Dennis Onyago was on alert. With 1 minute to go into full-time Fortune Makaringe’s shot hit the crossbar and the referee blew the full-time whistle. The match ended into a 2-0 victory for Mamelodi Sundowns. Sundowns will host Golden Arrows in the MTN8 Semi-final second leg on  Tuesday.
