The Jouberton Police Station on the unsatisfactory list of residents after continued lack of service witnessed.
It is alleged that the SAPS members in Jouberton take lunch breaks all at ones leaving the service counter unattended. Residents have to wait close to an hour to get service at these particular police station.
“So, I went to Jouberton police station today to certify a few documents, I sat there for almost 40 mins without any assistance no movement nothing. Eventually we decide to ask one of the officers who was helping open cases why there was no one at the counter and she answered with such a bad attitude that they’re on lunch. Oh, they are all on lunch at the same time, no one to help the public. I would like to understand if that’s how it’s done or am I just overthinking.” Wrote a concerned citizen on a Facebook post.
Thousands of complains are coming in from those who have also been stood up by police at this station, police members who prefer to all go to lunch together leaving the community with no member of authority to provide the right service they get paid to offer to the public.
For a while now, police minister Bheki Cele has been commanding police officers to put the public first and render the service they are trained to give, especially when it has to do with GBV cases. However, every person who heads to the police service should be given help regardless of how little the help needed is.
