The South African Police Service has confirmed that police in Stilfontein are currently investigating a murder case after the lifeless body of a 13 day old baby was found along the N12 road near Stilfontein outside Klerksdorp, Northwest, on Saturday, 01 January 2022.

The body was allegedly spotted by a motorist on Saturday who then informed the police about an infant he saw along the N12 road. According to the SAPS, the infant had bruises on the body and the legs and hands had been tied with a plastic.

“According to reports, Police were called on Saturday, 1 January 2022, by a motorist who informed them about an infant he saw along the N12 road. The infant whose hands and legs were tied with a plastic bag, was found wearing a grey trouser with a white vest and covered with a cloth. Preliminary investigation revealed that the baby had bruises on the body,” the SAPS said.

The South African Police Service further stated that no arrests have been made so far, however, investigations are still underway.
