Tributes have been pouring in on social media for the former Zulu regiments leader Mgilija Nhleko, after it was announced that he has passed away.

Mgilija Nhleko was popularly known for his leadership for Amabutho in the Kwazulu Natal kingdom, the leader has passed away after batling illness for a long time, so much that he required special operaton .

Mgilija Nhleko rose to the limelight during the funeral of the late King Zwelithini as he played a prominent role in mobilising Amabutho under his tenure as the leader of the Zulu regiments.

Through the love shown on social media by tweeps it can be said that Mgilija played a prominent role in the Zulu kingdom and Kwazulu Natal traditional council, though his tenure as Amabutho leader came to an end in July after he was fired in accusations of transgression which included leading Amabutho to Nkandla in support of the former President Jacob Zuma.
