On Thursday night in his address to the nation President Cyril Ramaphosa, announced that the country will be moving to level 1 effective from 01 October 2021, and also the vooma vaccination weekend campaign.
The President announced that vaccination sites will be open on weekends making it possible for those who work during the week to use the opportunity to vaccinate on weekend.
The President launched Vooma vaccination weekend campaign to encourage the public to take corona virus vaccine in order to protect themselves agains the deadly virus. Vooma vaccination campaign comes after the country has experienced a decline in vaccination rates for all age groups. A survey done by UNICEF showed that only 55 percent of the youth will vaccinate for covid-19.
Following Cyril Ramaphosa’s announcement, Dr JS Moroka Municipality have announced vooma vaccination sites for the municipality, notebly in Siyabuswa mall, Katale Square, Mmametlhake, Allemansdrift and Watervaal Care Health Centres. All people living in South Africa are eligible to be vaccinated.
It is unknown if there are any other vaccination sites in the communities and villages as not all the residents can afford to travel to those vaccination sites identified by the Municipality.
