Known for not sleeping on an opportunity, AfriForum is back in court to fight against “political injustice” and this time, they battle the government in court in relation to the R50 Million Donation set to be given to the Cubans.
It was reported during the week that the South African government is negotiating to donate about R50 Million to Cuba, the news did not seem well with other political leaders, including the public. AfriForum took to court to block the donation, saying the country needs the money to cover for the state of poverty it is under.
Herman Mashaba of ActionSA, is one of the leaders who is support of the blockage. “13 million South Africans are unemployed, 80% of public schools are disfunctional, and more than half of our fellow South Africans live below the poverty line. That money should directly benefit the South African people. It is not our job to solve the problems of the world.” explained Mashaba
The public has also questioned the government with their decision, requesting that the government should practice the “charity begins at home” act before they head over to other nations.
