UDM leader, Bantu Holomisa, and DA’s, Hellen Zille, butted heads in a heated argument on social media about the real reason why the Democratic Alliance (DA) refused the multi party group proposal to form a minority coalition government in an attempt to keep out the ANC out of the Johannesburg Metro.
DA leader, John Steenhuisen, announced on Saturday that the party refuse to enter into a chaotic coalition government that will depend on the EFF staying in power and will rather present their own mayoral candidate for the Johannesburg Metro as well as the Tshwane Metro.
“We will not be forced into a false choice between the ANC and EFF,” said Steenhuisen. UDM leader, Bantu Holomisa, has since come forward to suggest that the DA’s decision is not due to the proposed minority coalition government which will supposedly be dependent on the EFF staying in power but rather the DA’s problem is with ActionSA leader, Herman Mashaba.
In the heated argument on Twitter, Helen Zille asked the UDM leader, Bantu Holomisa, to get his facts right that the DA did not agree to form a minority government that depends on the EFF to stay in power. Holomisa replied and revealed that the multi party group never talked about including the EFF in the minority government but rather the DA just has a problem with Herman Mashaba.
“Neither did we talk about including EFF in the minority govt [government]. Get your facts correct. Tell the public why did you demand that Mashaba must write a letter where he confirms that he would not put his name for the position of mayor. Your problem is with Mashaba. Period,” Holomisa tweeted.
Zille refuted Holomisa’s claim insisting that the DA never demanded such from Mashaba and that Holomisa was lying.
“And no one has ever said that the EFF would be included in the minority government. The only thing we said was that the minority government would rely on the EFF to stay in power,” replied Zille.
Its certainly heating up and it seems the walls are certainly caving in within the multi party group.
