The Democratic Alliance (DA) also announced on their official twitter page earlier today that they will be presenting Mpho Phalatse as their mayoral candidate for election in the Johannesburg Metro on Monday at the Inaugaral council meeting.

The Multi-party group’s, consisting of the DA, ActionSA, FF plus, ACDP and UDM, planning to attempt on keeping the ANC out off the Johannesburg Metro, has come under jeopardy after the DA leader communicated the party’s refusal to consider the Multi-party group proposal to form a minority coalition government.

The multi-party group has also stated its confusion at the DA’s intentions. “It would seem that the DA will proceed to Council meetings next week without formal agreements with coalition partners that offer any comfort to the residents of these municipalities,” the Multi-Party group said.

“As a group, the Multi-party group calls upon the DA to honour its commitment to keep the ANC out of these municipalities by engaging with potential coalition partners in good faith,” the Multi-party group added.

The parties further reiterated that it believes it is of utmost importance and in the best interest of the electorate to keep the ANC out of government.
