Emotional night for the University of Limpopo students as they hosted a candle-light vigil to commemorate the life of Mandy Makola. With just 4 months to become a qualified doctor, Makola’s family are now preparing for the final send-off of their daughter.

Makola was a final year student at University of Limpopo and had enrolled in the faculty of science, studying medicine. The final year student’s life was cut short when she was murdered by her boyfriend on the 11th of July 2022, the alleged boyfriend later took his life also.

Social Development MEC, Dickson Masemola declared this as gender based violence. Makola will be buried in Burgersfort in her homestead on Saturday, 23 July 2022
