In a tweet, Dr Zickie called the former Miss SA an “ordinary Venda person”. South Africans on Twitter didn’t take that very well, they took to social media to defend their former Miss South Africa. She was dragged for apparently being a colorist.

A colorist is a someone who is prejudice against people with darker skin, a person who favors people with lighter skin over those with darker skin. One of the people who defended Shudufhadzo Musida, the former Miss SA, was @Ronewa_Mathephe who tweeted “not one calling our former Miss SA an “ordinary Venda Person” when she herself looks like an ordinary aunt at groove”. Many other people angered by her tweet, there were a few people who defended her saying that she was just drunk.

Zickie tweet that caused an uproar on Twitter was “just spotted former miss SA right next to us, and she looks an ordinary person from Venda”. The uproar was caused by people translating to how they see the tweet. She did apologize for the tweet, “I’d like to take this opportunity to apologize to people from Venda, I didn’t mean to come off as offensive. I realized after a while ukuthi actually what I tweeted wasn’t cool hence I deleted last night”.
