Gauteng Traffic Police Official Arrested


The Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department EMPD, arrested a Gauteng traffic officer and his co-accused on Friday 29 April, for attempted murder. The two were arrested along Madiba Drive in Tembisa.

The arrest comes after a high speed chase, when the EMPD witnesses a reckless driving of a white VW Polo sedan, with false registration plates fitted with blue lights and siren. EMPD found that the vehicle had been involved in a highjacking scenario when a hijacked victim, handcuffed, shot in the abdomen and kept pinned down against his will, was found in what seemed to be a police vehicle.

The two suspects were immediately handcuffed by the after the victim pointed out to EMPD officers that he had been hijacked, shot and kidnapped by the arrested suspects. The two, in full Gauteng Traffic Police uniform, are detained at the Tembisa police station and face charges of hijacking, kidnapping, attempted murder, impersonating police official and possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The hijacked NP 200 vehicle belonging to the victim, was later located in Kaalfontein, Midrand. The suspects will soon make an appearance in court while the victim recovers from the unfortunate ordeal.
