South African mechanical engineer Shau Mafuna has joined the Mercedes-AMG high performance powertrains.

Mafuna will get the opportunity to work alongside seven time Formula-One (F1) champion Lewis Hamilton MBE. Mercedes-AMG high performance powertrains is the F1 engine manufacturing team for Mercedes-AMG F1 team.

Shau Mafuna graduated from Oxford Brookes University specialising in electric vehicles.

Mercedes-AMG F1 Brazil confirmed the big news on their twitter page that the South African engineer will be working with Lewis Hamilton in 2022.

He joined Mercedes in November 2021. Guess what, he’ll be working with Lewis [Hamilton] in 2022,& @MercedesAMGF1BR tweeted.
