Selby Ngoako Rapatsa (22) is one of the upcoming professional footballers in Tzaneen, Limpopo. Born and bred in Ga-Matipane village just outside Tzaneen, Bolobedu in Limpopo.
The Tzaneen born midfielder joined the junior team of Black Leopards that plays in the Multi-Choice Diski Challenge in 2019 after leaving Mpepule United, Rapatsa was groomed to be the professional footballer that he is today by the likes of German Chiefs, Tshepo Academy & Mpepule United in Limpopo.
After putting in some great performance Selby Rapatsa got promoted to the first team and was later loaned to TS Sporting for the 2020/21 season, after spending his loan spell at TS Sporting, Rapatsa returned to Leopards this season, Leopards are currently participating in the GladAfrica Championship popularly known as the NFD after being relegated from the top-flight league last season.
“The challenges I encountered before I gained recognition is that I was surrounded by too many great players in village, not just players but quality football players so it wasn’t easy for me to make it to the starting 11 in every fixture as some of the players were better than me”
Rapatsa has further revealed that in the next 5 years he wants to see himself playing for big teams in the country such as Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates Mamelodi Sundowns or playing abroad.
