A number of schools have turned back their learners due to overcrowding and now resorting to continue with rotational leaning.
Angie Motshekga issued on Sunday an address advising all learners to return for full time attendance as of Monday, however and predicted, possibility of over crowding at certain schools were witnessed.
Schools that had to turn back learners say they had no choice after they saw learners who had no table or chair, standing while learning is in progress. These schools have made mentions to the media that they are currently on call with the department of education for urgent mobile classrooms with extra furniture.
Meanwhile in KwaZulu Natal, 40 learners from Richards Bay High school have been hospitalised and admitted after a suspected gas leak. Response team say they have been getting more calls in and around the area and not just at school. The team was called to the school after learners were witnessed collapsing, vomitting and loss of breath.
