In an announcement of the show, Jay-Z described, Dr. Dre, as a musical visionary from Compton, Snoop Dogg, as an icon from Long Beach, Kendrick Lamar, as a young musical pioneer in his own right, Eminem as a lyrical genius, and Mary J Blige as a timeless Queen, and further adding that This will be history in the making
Roc Nation will produce the show, the entertainment company founded by Jay-Z, and This will be the third collaboration between NFL, Pepsi, and Roc Nation, this will be the first time in almost 3 decades since the Super Bowl was held in the Los Angeles area
Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Blige, and Lamar join a list of celebrated musicians who have performed during Super Bowl halftime shows, including Michael Jackson, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson, Kid Rock, Nelly, and P. The Super Bowl will be broadcast on NBC and Telemundo, and stream on Peacock. In a statement, Dr. Dre said, “The opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show, and to do it in my backyard, will be one of the biggest thrills of my career.”
