Romain Folz comes in as Dan Malesela’s replacement at Marumo Gallants ahead of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.
Gallants parted ways with Malesela on Friday after eight months in charge. Malesela was roped in as a way of helping Gallants survive relegation, Malesela has been an influential mentor at Babina Noko as he’s led the team to a potential Nedbank Cup triumph, which they lost out on to all-conquering Mamelodi Sundowns.
Folz comes in with an extensive track record of coaching of leading teams abroad, and across Africa, including his previous role at Botswana-based Township Rollers FC. “We welcome Coach Romain Folz to the team, he brings an impressive and energetic approach to football that we believe will be a great fit for Marumo Gallants,” said chairman Abram Sello in a press statement on Friday.
Folz, in his opening remarks, added: “I am very happy and honoured to join Marumo Gallants F.C. and a league such as the PSL. My first words are for our fans. I can only tell them that all the efforts and work we will put in every single day is for them. We want to make them proud, and I will dedicate all my time and energy to reach that goal.”
