Mamelodi’s assassin John Wick is taking lives of gang members in the community every week, a group that goes by the name Boko Haram.
Residents claim to have their own version of John Wick, who goes around shooting offenders. An unknown man in Mamelodi is now regarded as a community saviour after taking the law into his own hands and executing members of the Boko Haram group.
The community believes the unidentified apparent assassin, is there to save them from criminals that took over for years. “John Wick is constantly targeting Boko Haram gangsters only, they are now in hiding. They fear other gangsters but terrorize innocent people, now we have John Wick and they have gone into hiding, some have gone as far as Mpumalanga and Limpopo because they are afraid of Johnny Wick,” one Mamelodi resident claimed.
He recently shot two former gang members, one of whom had his brain spilling out of his eyeballs after being shot in the eyes by the assassin. It is believed that bodies that been recently found, are identified to belonging to gang members who have been for quite a while, terrorizing and killing people in the community. This group (Boko Haram) is thought to have terrorized the neighborhood, forcing local businesses to pay a tax to the gang for safety. Because of this gang, several community projects had to be stopped.
Rumours of a John Wick on the loose in the large township were dismissed by police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili. “I wouldn’t say so because they (the locals) know what they know, but the investigation isn’t connecting what they know,” Muridili added.
Muridili, on the other hand, claimed that the police were aware of recent murders “apparently done by a breakaway gang from so-called Boko Haram, calling itself Bafarasai.” And has stressed on how such rumours can temper with investigations.
