The mass shooting of 24 people in Mdlalose tarven in Soweto which resulted into 15 people dying has left the Malunga family devasted after losing their 3 siblings.

Thasanqa (24) Nkosi (25) and their 26-year old cousin Boyboy Malunga, were amongst the 15 people who were certified dead, after the mass shooting in Soweto. The deceased family spokesperson Gugulethu Mbhele, said the family is devasted. “There were two dead bodies at the entrance of the tavern and blood everywhere.”

“Inside the tavern, I saw 10 people, some with horrific open wounds from the gunshots. I dropped them at home later that evening and everyone was happy,” he said. Bloodstains could still be seen at the tavern and empty beer bottles were scattered outside. The tavern’s steel door was riddled with bullet holes.

Investigators have found over 130 spent cartridges from high-calibre weapons at the scene of a mass shooting that took place at Mdlalose’s Tavern on Sunday.
