EASTERN CAPE MAN KILLS GIRLFRIEND AND HANDS HIMSELF OVER TO THE POLICE

The South African Police Service confirmed the arrest of a 30 year old man after he handed himself over to the police in Kwazakele, Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape, on Friday, 26 November 2021, for the murder of his girlfriend.

According to the SAPS, the suspect allegedly assaulted and killed his 30-year-old girlfriend with a pipe during an argument between the two. “It is alleged that the couple had an argument on Thursday, 25 November 2021, at about 23:30, at their residence in Jam Ally, Greenfield, Kwazakele. The boyfriend allegedly assaulted the woman with a pipe. He then covered her with a blanket and left her lying on the floor,” the SAPS said.

“The next morning he went to work and when he returned, he discovered that she was not moving. He then went to the Kwazakele Police Station where he handed himself over to the police and the suspect was subsequently arrested for the murder,” added the SAPS.

The Nelson Mandela Bay acting district commissioner, Brigadier Tandiswa Kupiso, condemned the murder especially as the country is observing 16 days of Activism For no violence against Women and Children and further stated that the rights of women and children need to be protected by communities.

The Suspect will appear at the New Brighton Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 29 November 2021, on a charge of murder.
