Extreme flooding experience in the Eastern Cape leads to a jump of body count from 5 to 10 people who unfortunately lost their life.
This tragedy comes after South Africa has seen dozens of destruction caused by heavy rain and hail storms. A concern has made rise regarding the rain as to when the next disaster will hit and if it can be prevented from happening or a possible plan can made to assist those that might be affected by it.
Calls for government to move residents close to area where flooding possibly happen are sent out to the government. The area affected is at an informal settlement, shacks were witnessed floating. The past recent months, the country saw rain and hail storm destroy homes and business, with some still not rebuild till date.
Bodies are still being searched and assistance provided to those affected. The Gift of the Givers have also made its way to Eastern Cape to offer help to families left without shelter.
