It has been a rather a short fall week for the parliament with the building catching flames. A new venue for SONA 2022 has been announced.
As per usual the State of the Nation Address (SONA) takes place every single year and for the year 2022, a lot has to change in the manner of which the event takes place. The event takes place at the parliament, however due to the fire that broke, the Address has to take place at a different venue while a conclusion is made on the parliaments fire outbreak.
Reports have been sent out that the SONA may allegedly take place at the Cape Town City Hall. The president will address the nation on unfamiliar grounds for 2022, leaving questions as to what does the year have in store for the country politically.
Zandile Mafe, the accused parliament arsonist is still behind bars with his case postponed to 11 January 2022, he is facing charges of arson, theft and house breaking. Mafe appeared at the magistrate court on two counts of arson, possession of what is believed to be explosives and for house break-in, investigations are still underway.
South Africans have issued a movement of “Free Zandile” labelling the court as unfair and unjust. In the meantime, the man who broke the window of a court house missed his bail hearing and may be facing further charges.
