The memorial service of the late Constable Mahlatse Precious Machubeni (32) was held in Ga-Kuranta village under Mopani District in Bolobedu.
Machubeni was shot and killed on the 1st of January 2022 by a man who is believed to be her husband. Machubeni was standing outside her residence chatting to a male friend when the incident took place, the husband allegedly shot Machubeni and her companion, and they both died instantly.
Following the shooting the husband of the deceased fled from the scene using the car of the male victim and shot another man who he believed was the lover of his wife. Machubeni was a Detective Constable under the Mokwakwaila Detective Unit.
The memorial service was attended by her fellow colleagues from Tzaneen, Modjadjiskloof and Haenertsburg. The deceased was described as a very dedicated member of the SAPS who gave her all to serve her community by the Station Commander Winnie Mlondobozi.
“I lost a partner that believed in team work as well as someone I worked very well with.’’ said Sergeant Sizeka Ngobeni.
Ngobeni also urged men to protect women instead of killing them whenever there’s differences.
