“Protesters splashed red liquid onto Russia’s ambassador to Poland on Monday as diplomats visited a Warsaw cemetery and memorial complex.” The Russian Ambassador Sergey Andreev received an embarrassing welcome from protesters, along with other diplomats.
The group attended a memorial ceremony in honour of the Red Army soldiers killed in World War II. Protesters unexpectedly threw a blood like liquid at the ambassador and diplomats, while chanting “fascists,” meaning a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.
Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, condemned the uncalled for attack, using her messaging app channel, saying “we won’t be scared”. Protesters threw the red liquid on the ambassador, leading to him and his diplomats attend the ceremony in an uncomfortable state. The public has also condemned the act, saying the liquid should have been meant for the President of Russia Vladimir Putin who has shown no mercy towards Ukrainians.
It is clear that the act relates to the current war between Russia and Ukraine. Poland as been a place where refugees flee to, and this time around, Poland has been accomodating Ukraines fleeing the war happening, however slowly refugees are heading back to their homes, wishing the war to end.
