Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene, the Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, accompanied the Premier of the Province, Mr Oscar Mabuyane, to the home of the late Captain Pierre Marx, who died recently, leaving SAPS family shocked and devastated.

Councillor Xola Pakati, the Executive Mayor of Buffalo City Metro Municipality, was also present. Mabuyane’s visit to Marx’s home was intended to console and comfort the family. The Premier praised the late hero’s dedication and patriotism in carrying out his duties, as he diligently served and protected various communities.

“We are here as the Eastern Cape government to console you, to alleviate and share your pain. We appreciate and applaud Captain Marx’s commitment and patriotism in carrying out his responsibilities to serve and protect communities. The fact that he died with his boots on shows that he was always ready to die for our communities. He improved the image of the SAPS and the government in general,” said the Premier.

He took advantage of the opportunity to thank the South African Police Service in the Province for their outstanding work in ensuring the safety and security of various communities. “I’d like to express my gratitude to the SAPS in general for putting their lives on the line to serve and protect citizens in every corner of the province,” he said. The entourage then went to the location where the late Captain Marx was overpowered.
