Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Gwede Mantashe tests positive for Covid-19 yet again. Mantashe tested positive on Saturday after he experiencing mild symptoms of the virus.
The Presidency confirmed the matter to the public, reporting the minister’s health status, adding mentions that the fully spirited Mantashe is currently in isolation and will be working from home. This is for the second time that the minister tests positive for the virus.
During this very year in July, Mantashe together with his wife, tested positive for the virus shocking society as it was of public knowledge that the minister along with the president of South Africa are both fully vaccinated and protected for the virus.
The public has rather reacted negatively towards the sudden finding of the ministers’ status, regarding it as a reason residents should not be forced to agree to mandatory vaccinations after the president contracted the virus even though he is fully vaccinated.
Media Liaison Officer Nathi Shabangu says the minister “is working from home, obviously he’ll have the assistance of the deputy minister. At the moment he is well and able to do work.” The government urges society to come in their numbers and vaccinate, not forgetting to apply the Covid-19 protocols set out.
