Tension arise at Mantsha Primary School due to allegations of an SGB member being an imposter. Its been months complains coming from parents regarding SGB members who do not have a child attending the school, this matter started at Kgola Ka Leleme and Motsheudi Secondary School, and has now escalated to Mantsha Primary School.

It is reported that on Thursday 4 November 2021, parents of Mantsha Primary School pupils were invited to a meeting to discuss matters relating to an SGB member being removed and other matters affecting the school. It is believed that the SGB member doesn’t have a child that attends at Mantsha Primary School and should be removed from the position, as SGB’s are made up of parents with pupils at the school.

This decision has divided parents of the pupils and SGB members, as some want him to stay whilst others want him gone.The SGB member is claimed to have been appointed by the parents of the pupils because of his dedication and trustworthiness. The situation further disturbed the process of appointing EA’s (Educational Assistants) and GA’s (General Assistants)  at the school. It is revealed that the appointment of EA’s and GA’s wont be allowed until the issue is resolved.

Other than that it was discovered that the school has no proper classrooms and toilets, and it is currently without a principal and no principal will be appointed too until the matter of SGB’s is resolved.

A community member Mokgadi Mailula said “It breaks my heart to see pupils attending classes in such class conditions, and our pupils failing because of not being taught, and as one of the youth that applied for the EA’s and GA’s programme, I am dissapointed that the selection process is on hold due to these practices.”

Its has been further brought to light that a memorandum about the issues  affecting  the above mentioned schools will be handed to the Basic Education District in Tzaneen.
