James Bhemgee is a former street sweeper from Cape Town, The 57 year old won SA’s Got Talent 2 in 2010, when it was still hosted by SABC 2. James was discovered on the streets of Cape Town by a woman who overhead him sing while he was employed as a street sweeper. He was originally from Kalksteenfontein, though he resided in Mitchells Plain, he passed away at his home.

The woman who was impressed by his singing offered to pay for his singing lessons and he performed with the group called Cape Town Tenors. James Bhemgee caught the world’s attention with his incrediblevoice and rags to riches story and since then he had the privilege to perform with at numerous sold out performances world wide.

James was also privileged to perform with international singers including Welsh singer Katherine  Jenkins and was part of Andre Rieu and his Johann Strauss Orchestra Tour in South Africa. After winning SA’s got talent James said “For 13 years I’ve been unemployed, those 13 years were the hardest part of my life. I didn’t have opportunities to sing but I never gave up on my dream. I went through tough timed but I was and I am a beliver.”
