Liyabona Teyise 18 year old first team rugby player and Dale College learner who passed away in hospital shortly after suffering extensive bleeding on the brain during a rugby match last weekend laid to rest.
Liyabona was a promising future Springboks rugby player who had huge potential and passion for rugby, he was playing a first team match in East London on Saturday afternoon when he suffered the head injury in a collision, the school stated.
He lost consciousness briefly, though he managed to walk off the field where he was attended to by the medical team as he still experienced problems breathing, the young player was then rushed Frere hospital where a CAT scan revealed extensive bleeding on the brain .
It was later on confirmed Liyabona Teyise passed away over the night in hospital, he was the chairperson of the school’s student representative council (SRC)
