Three siblings die after consuming energy drinks

Gauteng MEC of education Panyaza Lesufi is set to visit the family of the three siblings who passed away earlier today, after consuming energy drinks that were given to them by their father.

MEC Lesufi expressed his devastation at the news of the three siblings passing away tragely, the police are currently investigating what led to the death of the boys who were aged 6, 13 and 16 years from Ratanda Primary school and Khanya Lesedi Secondary respectively.

The department says according to preliminary reports, it is alleged that the father of the boys gave five of his children energy drinks as they were preparing for school. Four of them consumed the energy drinks while the other one did not. The fourth sibling is critically stable in hospital.

The learners died at school after complaining of stomach pains. One was rushed to the nearest hospital but died on the way. It is alleged that this might be suicidal act as the father also allegedly tried to take his own life.
