Parents have gathered at Grosvenor school in Durban this morning to raise their concerns over alleged racism in the school.
MEC Kwezi Mshengu has addressed the parents about the issue of alleged racism and the actions that will be taken to solve the situation. MEC Mshebgu said, “I told the HOD that the panel must be appointed by Friday.
Parents are not happy with the MEC, they say he was just addressing them and did not take any questions even though hands were up. There is an independent panel that will be appointed by the end of this week to investigate the allegations of racism at Grosvenor Girls School that will deal in detail and that will also go deeper into those issues.
The MEC and HOD have agreed that it will give 21 days. They also mentioned that they will call on parents who have had experiences of these issues. They have requested the SGB to say anyone who has experience such problems must come forward to the panel and tell the story.
At the center of it, they will be investigating alleged racism to the school. They plead to the learners that they give them this 21 days, to act decisively based on the report. MEC, say they can’t suspend anyone without the investigation and that no names of the teachers have been brought forward.
