One of five armed robbers was killed and the other four suspects arrested after a foiled Post office armed robbery in Paarl, Western Cape on Tuesday, 11 January 2022.
Five armed men robbed a post office today holding the staff at gunpoint and fleeing with cash and SASSA cards, however, their luck ran out when their getaway vehicle overturned during a high speed pursuit by police leaving one person dead.
According to the SAPS, Information regarding the Armed robbery was broadcast on Police radios leading to the high speed pursuit of the fleeing robbers and subsequent arrests of four suspects.
“The suspects held staff at the post office at gunpoint and fled with cash and SASSA cards. The information was broadcasted on Police radios and several police vehicles participated in the search for the fleeing suspects,” the SAPS said.
“In Paarl the suspects overturned their vehicle which led to their arrest. Three unlicensed firearms and the stolen cash and cards were seized,” the SAPS added.
According to the SAPS, the suspects will appear at the De Doorns Magistrate’s court once they have been charged.
