The Spokesperson of the parliament of South Africa, Moloto Mothapo, has confirmed that the National Assembly building in Cape Town has caught fire again on Monday, 03 January 2021.

On Sunday Morning, South Africans were left stunned after news broke out that the parliament building had caught fire with pictures and videos going viral on social media. The nightmare looks set to continue with new reports emerging out of Cape Town reporing that the National Assembly building has once again caught fire.

Parliament spokesperson, Moloto Mothapo, confirmed the news on his official twitter page sharing NSW pictures and videos showing the building’s roof engulfed in flames.

“Unfortunately, after almost two days of brave battle with the flames in the National Assembly building, more fire has just been fanned up. Fire fighters remain at the scene and are continuing with the fight to bring the fire under control,” tweeted Mothapo.

“Sudden re-emergence of raging fire at the roof of the National Assembly Building, a building where firefighters have been bravely battling the fire since yesterday morning. Reinforcement by firefighters underway,” Mothapo added.

A 49 year old man was arrested yesterday in connection with the fire and was expected to appear in court today.
