The long serving Thobela FM presenter for the shows Tabakgolo and Megolokwane, Moloko Mashamaite is officially a Doctor of Philosophy in African Languages.

Mashamaite was conferred the Doctorate Degree for his immense contribution to the conservation of Sepedi, by his excellency Thabo Mbeki on Monday the 29 November. The media mogul joined Thobela FM in 2003 and has since drawn in majority of listeners in his midday slot.

Mashamaite does a show Tabakgolo which deals with everyday issues, Mashamaite gets to interact with politicians, business people and traditional leaders. Meanwhile on weekends he hosts a wedding (Megolokwane) programme aired every Saturday, loved and enjoyed by many.

The Vice Chancellor of UNISA Puleng LenkaBula, took to twitter to announce the Honorary Doctorate Recipients with the following statement, “We continue trajectories of AFFIRMING & HONOURING Africa’s Intellectuals who shape futures through harnessing African languages /spiritualist Glad to announce UNISA Honorary Doctorate Recipients Dr Moloko Mashamaite of Thobela FM and Rev Dr Lekota of Lesedi FM Rea Ba Leboha.’’

In addition Mashamaite’s colleague Sebasa Mohale also took to social media to congratulate him ‘’Ladies and gentlemen welcome Dr Moloko Mashamaite. Congratulations. A true inspiration indeed, the stalwart of media industry.’’ he added.
