The police command in the wee hours of Monday failed to live up to its statutory responsibility as its men failed to respond to distress calls from robbery victims who were being robbed by six dare devil robbers armed with two firearms and Pangas.
The robbers descended in a house ,along the Morapalala and Ga-Matipane road at about 2 a.m. and 3.am . The robbers laid a 1-hour siege in the household , the two household occupants Olga Molewa and Moela Nkwana (54) were tied with shoelaces by the six robbers who went onto ransack the house, taking cash, telephone handsets and other valuables and fled from the scene.
The victims screamed for help and their neighbour Tsietsi Diphala tried desperately to contact the police, but the response received was that since it’s dark due to load-shedding they’d rather come at sunrise .
“The police have proven to be a disgrace following the response made by one female police who sounded like we’ve disturbed her beauty sleep,” Said Diphala. The police arrived 5 hours later at the scene, upon their arrival investigations got underway.
TOTAL AMOUNT OF THE ITEMS INCLUDING CASH = +- R57980.99
