Over the weekend Mmusi Maimane was campaigning for the local municipality elections on behalf of the MIM “Mopani Independent Movement” that falls under the “One SA Movement” led by him.
During his previous visit in Ga-Sekgopo village, Maimane visited a family where he found the family living in a dire situation, as he stated that he came across walls and roofing falling apart. Following his visit to the family Maimane was later requested by Kgoshi Matsorwane Sekgopo to build the family a new home to prove his leadership skills and Maimane has committed himself to build the family a house worth R29 000.
During his campaign in the area Maimane revealed that he was surprised to see Ramaphosa’s face on ward councillor’s posters, and that this shows that the ANC doesn’t have enough suitable ward councillor’s candidate that will work for the community.
He further criticized the ruling party for not providing better services in the area such as water, proper sanitation, healthcare services, and malls. Residents of Ga- Sekgopo travel to Modjadjiskloof or Tzaneen for shopping, police services, and home affairs services.
The ward councillor candidate in the area Sello Manyama has urged the residents of ward 3 to vote for him as he’s all about the people’s interest. In less than a week, the fate of the councillors lies with the voters but at doing so, society will have to make a mark and choose the party they want and believe in.
Local Municipal elections are scheduled for 1st November 2021 and voting stations will operate from 7am-9pm.
