According to various sources Samuel Maritus Malatji, popularly known by his stage name ‘’Lil Meri” has passed away in the late hours of Saturday evening.

Before breaking into the music industry, the Ga-Motupa village-based singer had studied Mechanical engineering at Letaba TVET College until he obtained his N3 qualification.

Due to the unemployment crisis in Bolobedu Malatji discovered his talent in music through the well-known gang in Bolobedu “Ba Company’’. The talented singer released several songs ‘’Welcome Back Manizo’’ with the gang before going SOLO.

The 22-year-old later broke out into the music industry with his single “Ke Ngwana Motho & Ba Melomo’’ songs. Through his music Malatji has managed to pass the message to the youth of Bolobedu to do away with hooliganism and terrorizing their communities and most importantly notifying them of the difficulties faced in jail. It was also through his music that he was able to self-introspect, staying away from committing crimes.

Malatji has worked with the likes of Omee Otis, Lexyphonic, The Double Trouble and Biodizzy, his passing has left many in shock. Details surrounding his passing are still unclear.
