Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has confirmed that his team may be without England duo, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw after both players picked up Injuries in the 1-0 league defeat to Aston Villa on the 25th of September 2021 at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer, speaking in a press conference today, said that full back Luke Shaw is a doubt due to a shoulder injury whilst defender Harry Maguire is still out due to a calf Injury with the duo also missing the midweek Champions league win over Villarreal on Wednesday.
He also gave an update on forward Marcus Rashford. “No, Luke (Shaw) feels better but he still got the shoulder injury. Marcus (Rashford) trained for first time fully today. Harry (Maguire), Amad (Traore) still out. We didn’t lose anyone on Wednesday,” said Solskjaer, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
Everton manager, Rafa Benitez, also gave an update on his squad in a press conference earlier today with several players set to miss Saturday’s clash at Old Trafford. Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Captain Sheamus Coleman, Portuguese midfielder Andre Gomes, and forward Richarlison all out injured; however, midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin is back and fully fit from injury and may feature on Saturday as confirmed by the manager and the club’s official Facebook page.
Manchester United will be looking to build on their win over Villarreal with victory over the blues of Merseyside whilst Everton will also be looking to build on their 2-0 win over newly promoted side Norwich city with victory from either sure to move them to the summit of the premier league table.
