Hlaudi Motsoeneng | A Supportive Crowd Cheering for Former SABC COO

The former COO of SABC Hlaudi Motsoeneng has been ordered by the court to pay back the money he was paid with an interest

The former COO of SABC Hlaudi Motsoeneng has been ordered by the court to pay back the money he was paid with an interest of 15% of the success fee.

A rather supportive crowd cheering for Motsoeneng to not pay back the money saying he deserved it and made SABC what it is today. According to Motsoeneng, it was his hard work that got SABC the MultiChoice deal to air the channel on DSTV Channel 404.

The court has come to the conclusion that the former COO of SABC pay back the money he was paid as a success fee, for accomplishing the MultiChoice Deal to air SABC, and to pay all of it back with an interest of 15%, estimating the amount of interest the money would have accumulated if invested.

The opposite was done by the man the court is demanding money from, Motsoeneng say he enjoyed the money and well deserved it. He added to say he respects the honourable judge that made the ruling; however, it does not make sense as to why pay an additional million rand accumulating as the 15% interest. It was alleged that he received about 11 million but Motsoeneng disagrees.

Motsoeneng says he received an amount of R6.7 million from the board. The crowd supporting him say the board should be the one to pay back the money, alleging they had no hand in assisting Motsoeneng to elevate and make SABC what it is today. The crowd regards the current SABC status as Motsoeneng’s blood sweat and tears. The former COO of SABC received a deadline by the court as to when the money should be all payed in.
