Ekurhuleni has joined the “Pay Up or Shut Up” electricity movement the Tshwane Municipality is doing by cutting off power for residents who owe their electricity bill.
Just as Tshwane was crying, Johannesburg Metro joined in with the cutting, saying this time they will not take stories but simply cut of power for residents with unpaid bills. And now Ekurhuleni has joined in, by starting with Germiston.
Germiston unfortunately got a visit from municipal power cutters who are also saying pay up or shut up to residents in cutting their electricity. City of Ekurhuleni released a short statement with pictures of the power cut.
“The electricity auditing team is still in Germiston to disconnect power supply to those who are receiving electricity illegally. Illegal connections are a crime and one of the causes of outages.”
In the meantime, big Operatong businesses in Germiston such as malls received an alert of water supply not available between 18/02/2022 at 07:00am until 20/02/2022 at 09:00am, affecting areas surrounding Germiston CBD.
