The Economic Freedom Fighters in a statement expressed their discourage in the sentencing of Nomusa Gabuza. She was arrested for voting 24 times during the 2021 Local Government Elections.

Gabuza was sentenced at the Umlazi reginal court in KwaZulu Natal, for fraudulently voting 24 times. She pleaded guilty to contravening with the Local Government Municipal Electoral Act of 2000 “with her callous and treasonous act.” Her sentence comprises three years of correctional supervision four years imprisonment suspended for three years.

The party says her sentencing is a slap in the wrist and the crime she committed, undermining the democracy should have been treated like a grave crime. The EFF say they “will explore all necessary and possible means of ensuring that  the processof hiring SADTU members and officials to preside over the elections of South Africa comes to an end.”
