Carlos Queiroz

Egypt Football Association appointed Carlos Queiroz, after firing Hossam El Bandry even though he has never lost a single game in the World Cup Qualification group stages, he faced criticism based on squad selection and and unpleasing performance by the team.

Bandry was later sacked by the Egypt Football Association following a draw against Angola on Sunday evening at the  Stade France Ville stadium , Gabon.

The EFA has by far appointed the former Portugal and Iran coach Carlos Queiroz as a replacement for Bandry 48 hours later. Queiroz has not been coaching for a while since leaving Colombia after a poor start in the World Cup Qualifiers, as he had 18 games with the team and only managed to win 9, drew 4 and lost 5.

In his stint of almost eight years at Iran Queiroz had a good run as he led Iran to 60 wins, 24 draws, and 13 loses out of 97 games, the team managed to score 189 goals and conceded 65. In his coaching career Queiroz has lifted 3 trophies namely, 2004 Spanish Super Cup, 1995 Portuguese Cup and the Portuguese Super Cup. Queiroz is the first Portuguese to coach the National Team of Egypt, he will be assisted by Diaa El Sayed.

Queiroz first game as the head coach of Egypt will be against Libya in a double crunch tier in October, the outcome of the results will determine Egypt’s fate in 2022 World Cup.
