In the first half both teams looked virtuous upfront as Ghana knocked at the doors of South Africa on the 12th minute through Andrew Ayew after Rushine De Reuck fouled Fameyah and Ayew’s shot was off target. On the 31st minute Mvala failed to give South Africa the lead following a freekick from Mokoena, on the 36th minute Percy Tau found the back of the net for South Africa following a cross from Mobbie but the linesman ruled Tau’s goal off-side.The first half ended into a goalless draw.
In the second half South Africa created chances but failed to convert, on the 75th minute Makgopa missed from point blank range. Again, on the 76th minute Mvala almost scored a bicycle goal, but it just went wide. In the 83rd minute Bongokuhle Hlongwane gave South Africa the lead following a cross from Njabulo Blom. The match ended in a 1-0 win for South Africa, Bafana will be taking Ghana’s position 1 in Group G of the World Cup Qualification.
Sports analysts claims that Tau’s goal was on-side and the linesman wrongfully flagged it off-side.
