Students have been protesting over challenges while trying to register for the academic year. The major issue the students are having is that the University requires them to pay 15% of their outstanding fees and registration fees.

Students are saying it is impossible for many of them who are facing financial issues themselves and NFSAS has not been properly assisting students. Today UKZN officials are meeting with SRC representatives and other stakeholders to find out the core issues and discuss a way forward to smoothly reopen the institution.

Students are missing academic program as they have not been able to register because of financial clearance that has not been met. Management said health and safety of employees and all students is their priority.
