Congress Of South African Students (COSAS) has called on the department of education to deploy security guards at schools to ensure school properties are safe during the festive season.

COSAS calls come after some of the public schools were affected by theft during this festive season as they are no deployed security personel at the public facilities.

South African schools have fallen victim to robberies and damage over the festive season as thiefs turn to steal a lots of schools properties over this period as no one is available to monitor the schools.

Cosas has asked the department of basic education to ensure tight security is exercised at schools and security personel are deployed over the festive period.
