Pietermaritzburg residents blocked several main roads in protests against powercuts in parts of the city following 8 days without electricity.
Residents are demanding a meeting with the city’s mayor following more than a week of powercuts, after eskom substation was damaged by the storm experienced in the province of Kwazulu-Natal.
Pietermaritzburg residents are demanding answers from the mayor who has not met with the residents citing threats to his life by residents as a reason for his reasons for no show.
Msunduzi municipality through their official social media pages have stated that power has been restore in several areas of the city including parts of Belfort and Ottos Bluff. The municipality further went on to apologies for any inconvenience caused by the outage.
