Former University Of Limpopo Student Representative Council (SRC) President and ward 26 EFF members shuts down HyperSave in Mankweng.
The EFF (Economic Freedom Fighters) members of ward 26 led by Piet Mothiba took it upon themselves on Wednesday morning to shut down the store for its racism and unequality, the EFF members have received multiple threats for the shutdown, the management of the store is nowhere to be found, workers have since then made their demands such as being registered for UIF and other work benefits, basic salaries and job description, salary increment and all workers being allowed to use restrooms free of charge and no limitations of using the toilets.
It is alleged that the management of HyperSave in Mankweng has been dismissing and calling black workers for hearing for using the “White Only Toilet” in the store , and they are also not allowed to use the toilets for more than three times a day.
The workers have not been registered with the Department Of Labour , and they’re not given any benefits as workers. The management has further emphasized that should any of these workers fall ill, they won’t accept any sick notes or doctor’s note, should they fall sick and be absent for work , they won’t be paid for that particular day “No Work No Pay.”
Community members added on the matter by emphasizing that the store also sells rotten and fake products. The shutdown is still ongoing until the management comes into terms with the provided demands.
