The International space station (ISS) has confirmed the return back to Earth of Russian actress, Yulla Peresild, and Russian producer-director, Klim Shipenko, accompanied by Russian Cosmonaut, Oleg Novitskiy, on Sunday, 17 October 2021, in Kazakhstan near the remote town of Dzhezkazgan after shooting the first ever movie in space.

Peresild and Shipenko return after completing their mission to shoot the first ever movie in orbit titled “Challenge” made possible by a commercial agreement between Russian State Corporation for space activities, Roscosmos, and Moscow-based media entities after spending 12 days in space.

“The trio departed the International Space Station in their Soyuz MS-18 spacecraft at 9.14pm. Novitsky arrived in the space station April 9 [2021] and return to Earth after 191 days in space on his third mission that spanned 3, 056 orbits of Earth and 80,9 million miles,” The ISS said.

“Peresild and Shipenko arrived at the station Oct.5 [2021] as spaceflight participants for 12 days of filming their movie, “Challenge”, under a commercial agreement between Roscosmos and Moscow-based media entities,” added the ISS.

The ISS also further announced that the trio would be airlifted by Russian helicopters from the landing site to the recovery staging city in Karaganda, Kazakhstan, before boarding a Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Centre aircraft to return to their training base in Star city, Russia.
