CABLE THIEVES TERRORISING BOLOBEDU RESIDENTS
BOLOBEDU-The police in Bolobedu are urging members of the community to work with them in the fight against cable theft in the area.
This comes after a group of a suspected syndicate known as izinyoka, have been terrorising villagers at Ga-Mothobeki village in Greater Tzaneen Municipality by stealing electricity cables during load-shedding .
According to the villagers, the thieves operates during load-shedding hours as a result this remains as one of the reasons for the poor service delivery in the area.
“I heard footsteps outside my yard immediately after power went off as per Load-shedding schedule and when I went outside I discovered that an electric cable connected to my house and neighbours has been cut,” a concerned community member stated .
“I couldn’t believe my eyes and I kept on looking around, thinking I would see the cables, but they were no more,” he said.
This scourge of cable theft has left some residents guarding these electrical installations at night by keeping their radio’s on as a warning system if anything goes wrong.
